Scope Note: Bentonville Township is located in the southern portion of Johnston County. It borders Wayne and Sampson counties to the south and Boon Hill, Ingrams and Meadow Townships to the north and west. The village of Bentonville was at one time a thriving marketplace for naval stores. The Battle of Bentonville occurred within the township.
