Physical Description
A typewritten note on the back of the photograph says, "The color photo herewith is of Bernard Duhan,(left) who discovered Ava Gardner's photo in the front store window of Ava's former brother-in-law's Fifth Avenue photo shop, when photographer Larry Tarr was then married to Ava's sister, Beatrice. Mr. Duhan saw the photo in 1940, told Larry to send a few to the New York office of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Larry did, the photos reached Hollywood and the rest is hostory, as they say. Next to Mr. Duhan is Andrew Anthos, who considers Ava his belovedly favorite cinema screen star. Andrew began collecting her in 1954 and gave Ava an immense collection in 1974. He first wrote to her in Madrid in 1956 and finally met her in New York on Dec. 13, 1958. He has remained faithful to her in their friendship since then until her untimely passing in 1990. This photo was taken at the Regency in N.Y. in 11-68."
