Biography
Robert Floyd Coats was a native of Johnston County, NC, and a public school teacher.
He was born March 20, 1883, to James Thomas and Mary Ann Messer Coats, and married Addie Florence Whitehurst (born around 1895) on July 28, 1925, in Pasquotank County, NC. Addie was the daughter of Elliott and Addie Florence Whitehurst.
Both Robert and his wife were public school teachers. He died on July 16, 1972, and was buried at Fellowship Community Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Township, Angier, NC. Addie died March 28, 1985, and was buried at St. Mary’s Grove Church Cemetery, Elevation Township, Johnston County, NC.
