Biography
Dr. John Herbert Fitzgerald was born on June 22, 1889, in Johnston County, NC, to Gibson and Mary Raper Fitzgerald. He was educated at the following schools: Fitzgerald School (was located near Pine Level, NC}; Trinity Park and Trinity College (now named Duke University); University of NC Medical School; University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine; NY Eye and Ear Infirmary; Jefferson Medical School.
Dr. Fitzgerald married Dorothy Alma Bennett (b. February 6, 1895), and they had one daughter, Mrs. James A. Wellons, Jr.
Dr. Fitzgerald died September 12, 1969, and Mrs. Fitzgerald January 15, 1974. They were both buried in Riverside Cemetery, Smithfield, Johnston County, NC.
