Bernadette Woodlief Hoyle was an author, feature writer, professional photographer, and publicist, and her work appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout North Carolina.
Hoyle was born July 23, 1912, in Henderson, Vance County, NC, to Elvis Frank and Lottie Elizabeth Woodlief. She was married to Macy Livingston Hoyle, and the couple had two children: Macy L. Hoyle, Jr., and Bernadette (Sandy) Hoyle Bolick. The Hoyles were divorced on August 22, 1960, in Johnston County, NC.
Ms. Hoyle died August 9, 1989, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Smithfield, Johnston County, NC.
