Biography
Alma Elizabeth Coates Ennis was born January 30, 1884, to W. R. and Sarah T. Coates. Alma became the second wife of Leonard Licurgus Ennis, Jr., on June 25, 1922, and the couple had the following children: Sarah Elizabeth (1924-2006) and William Richard (1927-2003).
Leonard L. Ennis was born July 2, 1881, and was the son of Ramon and Emily Ennis. On December 24, 1902, he married his first wife was Callie Coates (b. 6.2.1880-9.20.1921), and she was the daughter of Daniel M. and Mary Ann Byrd Coates. The couple had the following children: Nettie (b. 1904); Juanita (1904-1972); Malcom L. (1906-1956); Leta Victoria (1909-1977); Vara E. (1911-2005); Brookie Linwood (1914-1993); Rufus Daniel (1917-1985).
Alma Coates Ennis died July 7, 1975, and is buried in Oakland Heights Cemetery, Smithfield, NC.
