Mary Ellington Smithwick was born September 21, 1934, to Norman F. and Mary Turner Ellington Smithwick. She was educated at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, and married Dr. Samuel Mark Wigser on March 21, 1964, in Guilford County, NC.
Smithwick died July 22, 2009, in Reidsville, Rockingham County, NC, and is buried in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Reidsville, NC.
