Biography
Dr. George Ammie McLemore was born November 12, 1878, to David Alderman and Margaret Penelope Hall McLemore and practiced medicine in Johnston County, NC, for 54 years.
Dr. McLemore married Nellie Emily Johnson, on December 22, 1908, and they had two sons: Dr. George A. McLemore, Jr., and Dr. Robert A. McLemore, and three daughters: Mrs. Denton (Margaret) Lee, Mrs. E. S. (Eloise) Grady, and Mrs. W. J. (Lucille) Austin. Mrs. McLemore died on April 18, 1934, and is buried in the Oakland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cleveland Township, NC.
Dr. McLemore married Geneva Godwin (October 20, 1905-February 8, 1996) on August 29, 1953. Mrs. McLemore died February 8, 1996, and is buried at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Smithfield, NC.
Dr. McLemore died in 1961 and is buried in the cemetery at Oakland Presbyterian Church.
Edward Robert Johnson was born in Johnston County on December 16, 1838, and was a Civil War veteran. He married Phereby Elizabeth “Lizzie” Harrison (1857-1921) on April 28, 1880. Their daughter, Nellie Emily Johnson, was married to Dr. George Ammie McLemore prior to her death in 1934.
Mr. Johnson died November 6, 1905, and is buried in the E. R. Johnson Family Cemetery, Clayton, NC.
