Biography
John Sanders, a lifelong resident of Johnston County, was born February 17, 1775, and died November 30, 1830.
Sanders married Jemima (Mimmy) Jones (November 14, 1778-May 3, 1801) on March 16, 1797. The couple had a son, Baldy Sanders (born December 28, 1797) and two daughters, Tranquilla Sanders (born Jan. 14, 1799) and Jemima (born March 3, 1801).
Sanders married Elizabeth (Eliza) Temperance Peters (August 13, 1787-October 23, 1812) on May 21, 1807. The couple had five daughters, Susan Peters Sanders (June 17, 1808-December 8, 1808); Nancy Peters Sanders (born June 10, 1810); Elizabeth Temperance Peters Sanders (October 10, 1812-November 18, 1812); Elizabeth Willis Sanders (born January 15, 1815); two sons, John Fletcher Sanders (February 10, 1817-May 16, 1867); William Sanders (born 1819).
Sanders married Mary Boddie (March 7, 1785-April 21, 1843) on March 23, 1814. The couple had two sons, Robert Alexander Sanders (born February 4, 1825) and Claudius Brock Sanders (born September 17, 1829).

John Sanders Family Bible
The John Sanders Family Bible was printed in 1769 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and contains several pages of handwritten family history. The Bible was donated by Mrs. Sally Sanders Bowman, a third generation descendant of John Sanders.
