Biography

The Johnston County Historical Society held its first meeting on March 19, 1955, in the Johnston County Courthouse. The following officers were appointed: Mr. H. V. Rose, President; Miss Mildred Oliver, Vice-President; Mrs. W. B. Beasley, Secretary. There were 30 charter member, and the annual dues were $1.00. The Society’s goal was to preserve historical facts about Johnston County so that future generations would be aware.
